Presenting alternative energy storage for drilling rigs
PARAT Halvorsen AS recently participated at the ABB customer day seminar in Singapore and presented the newly developed concept for storage and utilization of regenerated braking power from offshore drilling rigs.
The concept is a complimentary solution to battery storage systems where the surplus power is stored as heat and subsequently utilized in secondary processes onboard the rig like HVAC, tank heating, utility heating or fresh water production.
The idea is to simplify and improve the way braking power is dissipated while at the same time reducing emissions and operating costs.
