During ONS, the great oil & gas exhibition in Stavanger, in August, two of Parat’s employees were so lucky they were invited to join Britt Jorunn and Lars Eidesvik for a private tour at the ship. After enjoying a cup of coffee together with the crew at the bridge, we were guidet through the ship. It is nicely furnished, cabins with 26 beds in total, multiple living rooms, a gym and a well equipped galley where the crew is served delicious food. We were also taken to the machinery space to get a good sight of the installed equipment from Parat.

The supply vessel is classed by DNV and NOFO. Parat’s solution for heating of ORO tanks with steam injection made us the clear choice as supplier of this equipment. Parat’s 1250kW electric boiler, MEL-C, is specially designed for the purpose, and the boat will always be ready should there be a need for it in an ORO situation.

The boiler delivered to Viking Fighter, combined hot water / steam boiler, is developed by Parat specifically for boats that shall be acc NOFO 2009. The boiler daily operates in hot water mode as back-up on the central heating system on board if one doesn’t get enough heat through heat recovery from the engines. In case of an ORO emergency the boiler is put into steam mode. The boiler is equipped with a 200 kW back-up heater that can be used to produce heat for central heating during steam mode. The boiler can produce 1850 kgdamp / hr, which is enough to keep the oil emulsion sufficiently viscous so that it can be pump out. The steam is injected directly into the medium, and Parat’s custom made steam lances provide an optimal spread of steam that creates an efficient heat transfer.

Parat’s delivery to Viking Fighter comprises in addition to boiler and steam lances also various equipment and tanks for feed water-, steam- and central heating system on board.
