PARAT Halvorsen to deliver 3 MEL-C Steam/Hot water Boilers to Kleven Maritime AS. build 351, 353 and 354.

PARAT Halvorsen has during the last month collected three orders for Kleven Maritime AS and Myklebust shipyards new multi purpose platform ships. This is the second order in short time, that such an order has been placed by PARAT. We believe that our newly developed and now Patent pending electric combined Hot water/Steam Boiler is partly the reason why.

PARAT Halvorsen to deliver 3 MEL-C Steam/Hot water Boilers to Kleven Maritime AS. build 351, 353 and 354.

Parat Halvorsen to deliver 3 boiler plants to Kleven Maritime AS and their new buildings of multi purpose platform ships. The vessels are also designed for oil recovery operations, were the boiler plant and belonging ORO system are a necessary key part to meet and satisfy NOFO’s demands and regulations.

3 multi purpose platform ships from Kleven Maritime AS to be equipped with Parat Halvorsen's new MEL-C combined steam/hotwater boiler for oil recovery operations.

As the ships are classified and provided with equipment for ORO operation according to NOFO 2009 Regulations, with belonging and necessary Steam Boiler, our combined boiler also gives opportunities for daily use as an hot water boiler and hot water supplier.

The NOFO Standards are developed by the Norwegian petroleum and shipping industry in order to ensure satisfactory safety and efficiency in oil spill response operations on the Norwegian Continental Shelf.

A standby vessel that has been approved by the Norwegian authorities to cover emergency preparedness for several installations must also satisfy the NOFO standard when it has NOFO oil recovery equipment permanently installed on board. All the vessels ORO tanks for collecting oil spill, must be equipped with a permanent system for heating recovered oil /emulsion and must have a tank capacity of at least 1000-2000m3.

To unload the low temperature and viscosity oil/emulsion, a heat source must be positioned close to the tank’s suction line to make it pump able, and is where the steam injection is being used. A multipurpose platform ship has normally no use of any steam on board but Parat has developed and is able to offer their customers a combined hot water & steam boiler. This boiler will daily be operated as a hot water boiler but can be re-mobilized as a steam boiler very fast when needed in an ORO operation. This solution was patent applied in 2009 with positive response and PARAT will likely have the patent within short time.

Large savings are gained both for ship builder and owner when investing in a separate boiler becomes unnecessary when choosing PARAT. This is also very space efficient in your machinery room. Since our boiler concept was ready, we have already sold over 50 systems like this.
